Why You Need a Cast Iron Pizza Pan
Each home cook has an opinion about the best pan to reach for on pizza night. The main contenders in the pizza pan debate include the cast iron pizza pan, baking steel pan, and baking stone. We’re a little biased, but we think cast iron stands out among the rest. Learn why we love using the cast iron pizza pan to make pizza in the oven or on the grill.
Cast iron is sturdy and durable enough to withstand high temperatures without breaking and warping. This is why we like to use it over a baking stone, which is more delicate and susceptible to experiencing thermal shock or breaking. Preheating your pizza pan is the key to getting the delicious, crispy crust you know from the local pizzeria. Cast iron provides great heat retention for even cooking, and it heats up fast! A cast iron pizza pan will stay hot as you transfer the dough to the pan and prepare the pizza.
