5 Potluck-Friendly Desserts for Summer

  • Jun 02, 2022
  • Our favorite thing about warm weather is that it brings gatherings with friends and family outdoors. Instead of arriving to the party with store-bought cookies and a bag of chips (we’ve done it, too), make a dessert that tastes like summer and is easy to bring to pool parties, picnics, or cookouts.

    American Flag Cake

Bring this festive treat to kick off the summer at your Memorial Day cookout or enjoy it at your Fourth of July celebration. It’s delicious and colorful, and you’ll have plenty to share because this recipe serves a crowd—30 to 40 people, to be exact.

Rustic Berry Skillet Galette with Almonds

We also can’t resist eating summer berries by the handful on the way home from the farmers market—but you should save some for this skillet galette. Fresh and satisfying but not too rich, it’s the perfect addition to any picnic spread. Plus, your crust won’t have to be perfect because the fresh berries really are the star of this dessert.

    Skillet S’mores Dip

Get the sticky-gooey-sweet-and-chocolatey nostalgia of a classic s’more without the campfire or mess. A favorite with kids and adults alike, the s’mores dip is ready in under fifteen minutes, feeds 8 to 10 people, and can be warmed up on the grill in a cast iron skillet. Win-win-win!

    Strawberry Pie

Cast iron provides just the right heat for tall pies with beautiful crusts, even when they’re loaded with juicy strawberries. We like to make this Instagram-worthy pie in a dual handle pan for easy transport from the car to your picnic blanket.

    Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie

This is our go-to for kid-friendly gatherings because it’s the perfect vessel for a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream so you can say goodbye to messy ice cream cones. It’s also a fun choice if you have a young chef who likes to impress their friends with their baking skills.
